You know this guy. This is the guy that comes to the gym with his nose in the air and thinks he is better than everybody else. He struts on through with his big biceps and walks straight to the wall of heavy weights. He makes a show of arranging the bench just so, and picks some weights that you're guessing are way too heavy for him. Yep, after about ten reps of bicep curls he is defeated. So he saunters over the the machines and chooses to do some lateral pull downs. Same story here. He adds too much weight and quits in about twenty seconds. Next up: Leg curls. Through the entire set all you can hear is grunting. Yes, he grunts and has a look on his face like he is constipated. He continues on to the next machine without cleaning off the previous one and what's that? Oh, it's just a call from his girlfriend. He spends the next ten minuets on the phone. Next he's up for trying those dumbbells again. He politely asks a fellow gym member if he is going to use them. Nice, but unlikely. The kid he asks weighs about one-hundred pounds soaking wet and it almost comes off as an insult, as if this kid SHOULD be able to lift these heavy weights. He is just looking to intimidate.
Well, I am watching all of this from my perch on the stationary bicycle thinking...Oh my lord... what an ego. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he's a nice guy who just isn't too smart, or maybe he just wants to show off. All I know is that if I ever... I mean, when I reach my goals I will never become this self-centered! I think I will give this man a nickname...Hmmm. Macho Arm Man. Yes, that will do.
Regardless, I had a great workout. 30 minuets on the treadmill followed by lots of lifting. I am sore and I love it! I finished my workout with an awesome protein shake and later, a big bowl of healthy oatmeal. I weighed myself this morning and I am 213lbs. So, I've lost a couple pounds. Honestly I thought I would have lost a few more. That's okay though. I just need to stay motivated and keep going!
